- to work to end discrimination in all forms for all people in the state of New Mexico;
- to promote an environment where sexual orientation is protected by law;
- to strengthen community networks;
- and to create coalitions between community organizations.
OBJECTIVES OF THE COALITION:
Objective 1:
Strengthen the infrastructures and effectiveness of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered community organizations in New Mexico over a one year period as measured by providing training and technical assistance at the annual Summit, regional workshops, and (when needed) on-site support from the Coalition volunteers.
Objective 2:
Increase the education level of state policy makers regarding the issues important to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered communities in New Mexico during the 1997 Legislative Session through effort of consultants working with the Coalition.
Objective 3:
In 1997, increase by 50% (over last year) the number of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered communities in New Mexico during the 1997 Legislative Session through efforts of consultants working with the Coalition.
Objective 4:
Develop a state wide communication system among and between the Coalition member agencies and individuals through a database, web page, email, and phone tree over a 12-month period.
Objective 5:
Educate the broader New Mexico community about issues important to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered communities by developing, maintaining, and using state wide and regional media contacts over a 12-month period.
