Convo 2006

The Interweave chapter of the Unitarian Universalists of Clearwater, a Welcoming Congregation, will host our next Convo in the campus of our congregation.  We are located near Tampa on the west central coast of Florida, easily accessible from the Tampa International Airport and the St. Pete/Clearwater Airport. We have a number of events planned for this weekend event, including workshops, dinner, Friday night and Sunday morning worship services, and break-out time to enjoy the vicinity of Clearwater in small groups.

We’re sorry that Ru Paul could not be confirmed for this event, but we’re delighted to announce that Sabrina Sojourner will be our keynote speaker. Ms. Sojourner was the first open lesbian to be elected to Congress, representing the District of Columbia. She works actively on behalf of gay, lesbian, African-American, and women’s interests. As Director of Diversity Programs and Women of Color Programs for the National Organization for Women, she became a nationally recognized educator on diversity and multiculturalism. Her latest work, a collection of poems and narratives, is entitled "Psychic Scars and Other Mad Thoughts."
