The two-day conference sponsored by the Minneapolis Police Department and related seminars will take place in the city of Minneapolis, Minnesota on Thursday and Friday, October 10th and 11th, 1996 in conjunction with the annual LEGAL-International Executive Board and Ambassadors meeting October 9th, 1996. Events are scheduled from October 9th-12th in the evenings and over the weekend around the Twin City area to give participants an opportunity to explore some of what Minnesota has to offer. The host hotels are the Crowne Plaza Northstar Hotel and Minneapolis Athletic Club in downtown Minneapolis just two blocks from the main shopping and Nightlife districts of Minneapolis.
Both hotels are offering rooms for under $100 a night and some suites are available. Those staying at the Minneapolis Athletic club should have access to the athletic club facilities and bowling alley included in their room rate. We are still negotiating for those staying in the Northstar hotel.
This conference is designed for Lesbian and Gay police officers, deputy sheriffs, firefighters, parole and probation officers, corrections officers, prosecutors, jurists, and criminal justice support personnel as well as all other interested law enforcement officers, managers, and executives who are dedicated to creating a positive working environment for an increasingly diverse workforce.

We are working to get as much finalized as soon as possible, but wanted to put out all the information available so those interested in attending could start making plans well in advance. To prepare:
1. Plan your vacation or leave time to join us in Minneapolis during as much of October 9-12, 1996 as possible. Come earlier or stay later and enjoy the beauty of Minnesota's fall season.
2. Try to get others in your area interested in attending the conference.
The main conference is scheduled for Thursday and Friday October 10th and 11th with a joint luncheon session and speaker. Other events are planned for the entire weekend including: a welcoming reception for conference attendees and guests; the annual LEGAL-International Ambassador and Officer meeting; Twin City tours including a look at Minnesota's beautiful changing seasons; a gay Minnesota hayride; an opportunity to sample the Twin City nightlife; a mini-guide to the Twin Cities for your own self-guided excursion around Minnesota's lakes, theaters, shopping and other sights; and a National Coming Out Day Party for the Twin Cities sponsored by LEGAL, proposed for Knott's Camp Snoopy-the full-size amusement park built in the center of the Mall of America.
