Speakers Bureau

LAMBDA is committed to providing quality education on behalf of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender individuals, and their friends and families, throughout the region.  Our mission is to work toward the elimination of homophobia, heterosexism, and discrimination of all forms, through education.
Each speaker has a powerful story to tell.  They will come to your meeting and talk simply and honestly about their lives.  They may talk about growing up, how their feelings evolved, and their "coming out."  They will share information and address myths and stereotypes about lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people. 

When LAMBDA speakers share their powerful stories, they address the cause of bias behavior -- misunderstanding.  Speakers present a safe place to learn and create a comfortable environment for questions and comments.

Speakers Bureau Goals:

  • Share experiences as gay men, lesbians, bisexuals, or transgendered individuals.
  • Dispel myths and stereotypes by presenting accurate information.
  • Encourage dialogue within and beyond the session.

Operations:

  • We provide experienced speakers for presentations or panels.
  • We come to your school or workplace, community or religious organization.
  • Our speakers facilitate discussions of sexual orientation, gender identity, and homophobia, while sharing their own stories.

LAMBDA's Speakers Bureau volunteers are invited into classrooms from grade school through college, businesses, government agencies, service clubs, churches, workplace diversity networks, and community agencies.
