Kindest regards, Bill Courson ---- Begin Forwarded Message From: Margarita Lacabe Subject: The Peoples's Sexual Rights Declaration (fwd) Date: Wed, 12 Feb 1997 00:31:08 -0800 (PST) Dear friends : As you probably know, from June 25th to 29th, 1997, we will celebrate in Valencia, Spain, the 13th World Congress of Sexology, organized by the Spanish Federation of Sexology Socities (FESS) and the Institute of Sexology and Psychotherapy Espill, under the patronage of the World Association for Sexology (WAS). This time, the main theme of the Congress will be the defense of human rights. "Despite the diverse sexual customs around the world, cultural differences cannot justify oppression of basic human and sexual rights", explains the official brochure of the Congress, which organizing and scientific committees have decided to make of this international meeting " a vindication of sexual and human rights for people around the world", obviously this effort cannot be completed without the participation of professionals on human sexuality and human rights. With the intention to achieve this purpose, the organization of the Congress have decided to create a commission, run by Dr. Cesar Velasco (Mexico), who will elaborate a final document "THE PEOPLE'S SEXUAL RIGHTS DECLARATION" which will be sent to the UN for it's discussion. That's why we are asking for your specific suggestions for the document contents. This contributions will be received until April 30th, 1997, and from this date, the Comission will elaborate a final version which will be presented during the Congress.
