books on the subject:

"Hoe vertel ik het mijn ouders" by Francois de Waal

Coming out stories as told by famous Dutch gays & lesbians.
Frank preface in which the author implies strongly that there are
many well-known figures in Dutch society and politics who are still
too scared to come out. Deals mainly with the relationships with parents,
reactions in the environment of the gay person. 

"Revelations" edited by Wayne Curtis 
Alyson publications Boston 1988, 40 Plympton street, Boston Mass 02118,
ISBN 1-55583-143-5 (English/American)
Deals with c/o stories of unknown US-gays. Contains more juicy stuff
than the Dutch book.

The "Dutch gay soccerplayer" in "Hoe vertel.." turned out to be a referee.
