     EOK ( Greek Homosexual Community ) is a g/l organization that was
     funded  in  May  1988  by  members  of the first gay move ment in
     Greece, AKOE. After the close down of AKOE  in  early  1989,  EOK
     tried  to continue the struggle for gay rights. Being a member of
     ILGA  from  the  begining  of  its  existance,  EOK  managed   to
     successfully organize the European Conference in December 1989.

     In late 1990 EOK organized an open air, public AIDS event in  the
     center  of  Athens and again in February 1991 participated in the
     pan-European demonstration outside the UK Embassies  against  the
     Brittish antigay measures taken that period.

     In the begining  of  1994  EOK  reorganized  its  activities  and
     succesfully   gave   big   publicity   to   a   case  of  extreme
     discrimination against one of its member, Isabel Aktypi.  In  one
     of  our  next  mailings  we'll  inform  EURO-QUEER subscribers in
     detail.

     Before the  euroelection  in  June  1994,  EOK  submitted  a  gay
     questionnaire  to  the  Greek parties and got very clear and good
     answers by one of them ( rather small ) and general ones  by  the
     two  big parties. The point is that none has ignored the question
     naire.

     Now  EOK  is  in  contact  with  the  minister  of  Justice,   Mr
     Koubelakis, for an anti-discrimination law. We gather information
     concerning gays in the legal level. We  are  very  interested  in
     laws  of  European  countries  such  as  the  Danish  law for gay
     marriage etc and we'll appreciate every help we'll get.

     For the future, we try to solve the financial problem  all  small
     gay  organizations  without subsidies have. We may also manage to
     establish a weekly gay radio broadcasting along with  a  new  gay
     questionnaire  before  the  local  elections  in  October  and  a
     cultural event in late fall - early winter.

     We hope to have the European gay community on our  side  in  this
     difficult   attempt  for  aknowledgment  of  our  existence.  All
     proposals  and  every  help  are  wellcome.  We  also  give   any
     information  you need about Greece and we gladly accept any you'd
