Written by Koch and Platt, "Son of Ham..." is directed by veteran Seattle performer Kit Harris. Harris has directed Dos Fallopia twice before in Pretty Girls, Not Too Bright, and The Worst of Dos Fallopia, and has been seen onstage in Bunnicula (Seattle Children's Theatre), and We Won't Pay, We Won't Pay (Tacoma Actors Guild). Rounding out the show's talented cast are versatile writer/actor/directors Kevin Kent and Bruce Hurlbut. Kent is a founding member of King's Elephant Theater, has recently appeared in Greek Active's Macbeth, and had a huge hit with his original improv piece, Sister Windy: My Life as Art (Re-bar). His directing credits include A Pale and Lovely Place and Pulp Vixens: Innocent Heat . Musical director Bruce Hurlbut has worked with Peggy and Lisa on 6 previous shows, including Unforgivable, It's a Spudd Family Xmas, and The Holiday Survival Game Show. Hurlbut is the artistic director of Mythtery Theater, and has appeared in the Seattle Rep and New York productions of Scapin (with Bill Irwin), Tony 'n' Tina's Wedding, and is a regular entertainer on World Explorer Cruises. "Ham" features the usual weird array of Koch/Platt dysfunctional characters: Obsolete toys plan a Christmas revolt; "Little Drummer Boy" performed with a leather twist; oily 70's lounge act The Colonel and Shenille croon at a hospital Xmas party; opera diva Angeline sings her life; the world premier of Mall! The Musical; and everybody's favorite country mother-daughter act, The Spudds, enact Mama's Christmas version of "The Big Valley of the Dolls." Voted "Local Treasures" by the Seattle Times (Best of Seattle Theatre, 1995), Koch and Platt have woven their musical sketch comedy magic for the past 6 years, collaborating on such gems as Chicken Fried Spudds, Bewigged, Bothered and Bananas, Dweeb Tales (Cabaret de Paris), Pretty Girls, Not Too Bright, Twin Sisters of Different Cul-de-sacs (Theatre Off-Jackson), and Alice B. Theater's near-legendary holiday romp,The Holiday Survival Game Show (89-95). The two tour extensively as Dos Fallopia, and their twisted video, Pretty Girls, Not Too Bright has received rave reviews. Koch and Platt have taken their touring shows to theaters and cabarets in London, San Francisco, Boston, New York, Minneapolis, Portland, and Indianapolis. A London Connection review declared, "Could they be the long lost love of Doris Day and Divine? Big, brash, and completely mad...", and a San Francisco Bay Times reviewer proclaimed, "...two of the funniest, most irreverent comedians I've seen in years." When they're not performing together, the two women pursue busy solo careers. Koch has recorded two solo CD's (Colorblind Blues and You Make My Pants Pound and other show tunes...), is a former member of Seattle cult band Venus Envy (I'll Be A Homo For Xmas), and manages to find time to work as a producer and composer. Platt is well-known to Seattle audiences as a stand-up comedian, and has been voted Seattle's Best Comic nine times (Best of Seattle Weekly Reader Poll), in addition to her work as an actress, playwright, and radio personality. "Son of Ham For the Holidays" previews Wednesday, December 3 (half price show), opens December 4, and continues through Sunday, December 21 at the Theatre Off-Jackson. Showtime is 8:00 pm (doors open at 7:15 pm), and tickets are $14.00 for Friday-Sunday shows, and $12.00 for Wednesday-Thursday performances. Sunday matinees will be added on December 14 and 21.
