Subject: Good News and Bad News (WA: New Initiative)


And now the bad news.  Another anti-gay initiative has been filed in 
Washington State.  The following comes from Hands Off Washington, and is 
all the information that is available as of now.  The initiative has not 
yet appeared on the Washington State Legislative gopher (as of 6pm 14 
March 1996).

An exact duplicate of Initiatives 608 and 166 was filed on February 28,
1996, as Initiative 669.  It was filed by Mark Roshak.  He is affiliated
with a new group, which recently filed with the PDC, called Washingtonians
Opposed to Homosexual Policies.  This is an Initiative to the people not
the legislature so it would be on the ballot this November if it gets the
required number of signatures. 

At this point it is not clear whether this is just a last gasp or a real
effort. We'll let you know as soon as we have more information. [...]
