Subject: ACTION ALERT: Lackland AFB Discharges

Servicemembers Legal Defense Network (SLDN) asks your help in our ongoing
investigation into gay discharges at Lackland Air Force Base, in San Antonio,
Texas.  SLDN wants to speak with people who have experienced basic training
(whether or not they graduated) at Lackland Air Force Base since 1993, when DA,
DT, DP was announced.  SLDN would also like to speak with MTIs (Air Force Drill
Sergeants) who have served at Lackland AFB in the past few years.  

In 1997 alone, Lackland AFB accounted for 221 of the 997 gay discharges.  212 of
these discharges were from basic training units.  This number is way out of
proportion to what is happening in the other services.  Please help SLDN's
investigation by putting anyone you know who has been an MTI or a recruit in
basic training at Lackland AFB in touch with SLDN, 202.328.3244.
