purpose is to create and sustain a community of groups and individuals who

engage in promoting democratic values including respect for a diverse society,
separation of church and state, and individual rights as guaranteed in the
Constitution."

        Harrisburg, Sept. 24, 1998: The Pennsylvania Alliance for Democracy
(PAD) has 
launched its new website, PADNET.ORG (http://www.padnet.org).  This is a
different kind of website. It is designed to help progressives activists in
Pennsylvania work together to promote respect for a diverse society,
separation
of church and state, and individual rights as guaranteed in the
Constitution of
the United States.  PADNET.ORG is a well organized site that is easy to use. 
It includes progressive news, letters-to-the-editor, legislative alerts,
opinion surveys, commentary articles, a help line, speakers' bureau,
biographical sketches of activists, profiles of progressive organizations, and
hyperlinks to many of the best progressive websites in the country.  This
website is managed by the Board of PAD. The Board is composed of many of the
most experienced progressive activists in Pennsylvania.
