Creating Change is sponsored by the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force and is now in its 11th year. It is the preeminent gathering of the GLBT movement. This year's plenary sessions will each feature a panel of speakers, representing the GLBT movement's foremost thinkers and leaders. The topics for the plenary sessions are the political philosophies and ethics driving and defining the movement; the attacks on artistic representations of minority sexualities and genders; coalition politics; and the relationship between our created families and our community families. Plenary speakers include out lesbian presidential appointee Virginia Apuzzo; Yale University political scientist Cathy Cohen; National Organization for Women president Patricia Ireland; comic and author Kate Clinton; National Campaign for Freedom of Expression director Gary Schwartz; and Luis Alfaro, director of the Latino Theatre Initiative at the Mark Taper Forum. Creating Change will feature cultural events, over 120 workshops and networking caucuses, and two days of pre-conference institutes. In addition, a special reception will be held at Pittsburgh's Andy Warhol Museum in celebration of the Task Force's 25th anniversary. -30 - The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force has worked to eliminate prejudice, violence and injustice against gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered people at the local, state and national level since its inception in 1973.
