Jimbo Hunt and the Sec. of Environment, Health and Natural Resources, Jonathan Howes. Several hundred people, most holding candles, gathered on Union Square in front of the Capitol for the service. Officials at Metrolina AIDS Project announced that Stephen O'Shields their former treasurer, had been charged with two counts of embezzlement. The arrest came three weeks after MAP's discovery that more than $120,000 was missing. In the Queen City, the Charlotte Gay & Lesbian Film Sers, entering its fourth year, announced this year's schedule of six presentations that represent the best in gay and lesbian films of the year. In the City of Medicine, the Magnolia Grill's Ben and Karen Barker have decided to donate an evening of dining to raise money for AIDS. David Heslop, the manager, is forming a committee to determine how the money should be used. Back overn in the Queen City -- Yes, again. Those queens sure are busy. -- Mecklenburg Superior Court Judge Zoro Guice, Jr., ruled that the process by which a zoning variance was allowed for the New Life MCC to purchase property for a church should be reviewed. Records of the case are to be provided to him within 30 days of his 6 Dec. ruling. The NC Pride PAC for Lesbian and Gay Equality announced that it has hired Derek Charles Livingston as Executive Director. Livingston is from Miami where he worked fro three years as an HIV prevention educator.
