This is provided only as a part of the Jesse Watch, kind of like a neighborhood watch program. In article a local yokel wrote: >I will probably offend many of you who hate Jesse Helms because >of his conservative views, but I want to applaud Senator Helms >for his stand against NAMBLA on the senate floor yesterday. >Senator Helms led a resolution to severly cut US funding of >the UN if they didn't reject association with the NAMBLA. >The senate approved unanimously. >NAMBLA (North American Man/Boy Love Association) is a group >which promotes sexual relationships between men and boys. >This is commonly known as pedophilia. In more graphic terms, >it is an organization of 'men' who like to screw little boys. >In my book, this is perverted, no matter how you look at it. >Apparently, NAMBLA is part of an international Gay&Lesbian >organization which had gained some sort of recognition status >from the UN. I don't know the details of this organization or >the recogniation status granted them by the UN. >I am personally glad that we have someone in our Senate with >the guts to say something is wrong, even when it isn't politically >correct. >Thank you Senator Helms! > The "good" senator from the "great" state of North Carolina is never lacking in ammo and causes. On a more positive note, Duke's The Chronicle, the student paper, published a commentary by Tim'm West, a Trinity senior, entitled "Black homophobia 'utterly inane,' stifles liberation." It was an interesting article talking about being black in white institution -- y'all know what I mean, the student body, faculty and staff being mostly white -- that has supports for gays and then spending a semester at a black institution -- again, y'all know what I mean -- that has no support for gays and how it effected his thinking. I think I met Tim'm once when speaking on gays in the military at Duke. Nice guy. Good aarticle, Tim'm. Carolina, Carolina, Heaven's blessings attend thee. And that is the way it is in North Carolina, my home state.
