DINNER AT VIC'S, TWEAKS THE CONVENTIONS OF GAY THEATRE.
   
The Castillo Theatre hosts the premiere of new play for Gay Pride Month.


The Castillo Theatre presents Dinner at Vic's, a new play by Dave
DeChristopher, directed by Mary Fridley.  Dinner at Vic's, a satirical
comedy about gay theatre and sexuality, opens June 6 and runs through
June 29th.  Performances are Thursdays through Saturdays at 8:00 p.m.
and Saturdays and Sundays at 2:00 p.m. at the Castillo Theatre, 500
Greenwich Street, (at Spring Street). Tickets are $25. The box office

DeChristopher, the author of over a dozen stage works including The Jack
Report, Past Palpable, Fifteen Minutes, Moon Vault and Brutes, is a
stage actor, novelist, teacher and one of the country's leading
cruciverbalists (creator of crossword puzzles). "I wanted to write a
play that questioned the party line(s) about gay identity and tweaked
the conventions of the theatre while being both mischievous and fun,"
says DeChristopher. 

In 1996 DeChristopher led the playwrighting workshop at the Sewanee
Writer's Conference along with Romulus Linney. He is the author of more
than a dozen books including the long-running spy series, The Force.

Mary Fridley has been a member of Castillo's directorial staff for 5
seasons and has co-directed and assistant-directed over a dozen plays.
She recently appeared in the role of (one of five) Medea's in Castillo's
production of Heiner Müller's medeamaterial.

Dinner at Vic's,  the final play in Castillo's seven play season, opens
June 6 and runs through June 29.  The Castillo Theatre is located at 500
Greenwich Street (at Spring Street) in west SoHo. Tickets are $25. Group
