Date: Sat, 27 Apr 1996 17:58:30 From: Melinda Shore Subject: NY S.7345 introduced to ban same-sex marriage For those who haven't yet heard, State Senator Serphine Maltese (15th District) has introduced Senate Bill 7345, which "Makes a marriage absolutely void if contracted by two persons of the same sex regardless of whether such marriage is recognized or solemnized in another jurisdiction." A similar bill has been introduced in the Assembly by Anthony Seminerio (38th District) but hasn't yet been assigned a number. The Senate bill is currently under review by the Senate Judiciary Committee; this would be an excellent time for NY state voters to contact our representatives and voice our opposition. For Tompkins County residents, your state senator is probably either Jim Seward (518-455-3131, SEWARD@SENATE.STATE.NY.US) or Randy Kuhl (518-455-2091, KUHL@SENATE.STATE.NY.US).
