The Hate Crimes bill in New Mexico, SB 615, has passed both houses of the
NM legislature and is on it's way to Governor Gary Johnson.

Calls, letters and faxes are needed to encourage Gov. Johnson to sign the
bill into law.

Gov. Johnson needs to know that the bill is mainstream (34 states have
similar laws), that republicans support this anti-crime bill, and that it
is a popular "tough on crime" bill.

The bill allows judges the option of increasing penalties for crimes
commited on the basis of the victim's actual or perceived race,
ancestory, national origin, religionn, sexual orientation, gender, or
disability.

Letters can be sent to:

Gary Johnson, Govenor of New Mexico
Office of the Governor
New Mexico State Capitol
Santa Fe, NM 87503

or call 505-827-3000, or fax him at 505-827-3026.

Thank you,
