From atropos@aol.net Mon Apr 11 21:42:59 1994 Subject: Maryland Civil Rights Law fails this year. On March 24, 1994 the Maryland House Judicial Committee failed to pass HB-127. HB-127 would have added "sexual orientation" to the state civil rights law, barring discrimination in housing, employment, and public accomodation. Their action stopped the bill from moving forward for this year. The vote was 10-10, 12 votes being needed to pass the legislation. The bill will be re-introduced for the fourth time next year, after the election which should result in a high turn over of legislators. Additionally a new Govenor will be elected.
