Dear Scott:

Thank you for calling my office today and leving word that you are doing
a story for your school paper about the famous Fred Phelps/Maya Angelou
episode of Nov. 13 at the Topeka Performing Arts Center. You are the
first reporter who's bothered to ask for my side, and it's a tad
different from the lying, one-sided bilge from Sister Maya and her faggy
agent, Kenny Rahtz: "That Fred Phelps tongue-lashed poor little Maya as
WBC church members surrounded her limo at the close of her performance;
and it upset Maya so bad that she cancelled her Emporia gig." Not that
I'm complaining, you understand! this lying fag media flap has pushed our
message right back onto front page headlines. And, really, we're rather
fond of these vampire journalists afflicted by terminal cases of
cowardice and laziness, whom we affectionately refer to as literary
thugs, amoral attack dogs, bottom feeders, and slugs glomed on to the
bottom rund of the ladder of human depravity.

But if you want to season the AP's (Associated Phags') fables with a few
dashes of truth, here's what really happened: WBC peacefully picketed
Maya's two Topeka performances standing quietly with our signs on public
sidewalks; I never siad one word to Maya, and was never closer than half
a block to her limo as she arrived; when the performances began, we
left, and no member of WBC was present when the performances ended and
Maya left in her limo; two Topeka Police Dept. officers were present at
all times (to protect us from fag violence), if anybody wants
verification of these things; and, one of Maya's black friends called
after the lying headlines erupted to say that Maya cancelled Emporia
only because she got sick! If Maya is upset at the Bible verses and
sentiments on our signs, it may be she's having conscience attacks due to
her sins of leading America's youth astray by promoting the militant
sodomite agenda. The ol preachers called it being "Under Conviction."

Here's a scoop for you, Brother Scott: WBC won't wait for Maya's return
to Emporia next Spring. WBC will picket her performances at the Univ. of
Missouri in St. Louis on Feb. 28 and the Univ. of Texas in ARlingotn on
Mar. 30! Now that she's lied on us, WBC'll follow her around like an
ugly dog! Kindest regards and best wishes in your journalism career.

Sincerely,

Fred Phelps
