Subject: Antigay radical runs for mayor!

Longtime mayor of Leawood, Kansas, Marcia Rinehart, is being challenged in
the Feb. 28 primary by G. Gordon Thomas. This man is the same one that led
the attack on introduction of accurate, lifesaving info for gay teenagers
into the Shawnee Mission School district in 1993. I urge you to contact
anyone you know who lives in Leawood and ask them to turn out with their
friends and make sure we elect someone who wants what's good for the
city...instead of wasting the term using his office as a bully pulpit to push
his far-right views. This is almost as crazy as Fred Phelps running for mayor
of Topeka, except that Thomas has a very real chance of winning.
Besides contacting Rinehart with support, you can call Rep. David Adkins, who
represents Leawood in the Kansas House and is a member of the Mainstream
Coalition, at (913) 341-1232.
