Received the followin and am passing it along. I believe that Paul means to include the five states with those that he lists below, and I believe that he is correct also. FEEDBACK From: Pvarnell@aol.com Fenceberrys and Sherrill: The recent AP story about the Montana supreme court striking down the states sodomy law, kindly passed on by Fenceberry and Sherill brought very welcome news, but perpetrated an inexactitude. It said (in part): "Five other states - Arkansas, Kansas, Maryland, Missouri and Oklahoma - still outlaw gay sex, said Linda Mangel, an attorney for the Northwest Women's Law Center in Seattle." In fact, quite a large number of states, about 18 in all, still have sodomy laws, including Idaho, Utah, Arizona, Minnesota, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Massachusetts, and, I think, Rhode Island. I realize that neither (none) of you testifies to the accuracy of the news stories you pass on, and for which we are deeply grateful, but it may sometimes be worthwhile reminding recipients that AP is not always accurate. BTW: be warned that NGLTF is circulating a press release on this same news story which is also inaccurate in this regard.
