Devon voted against the constitutional amendment to ban same gender marriage (one of the brave 14 in the House; 37 House members voted for the constitutional amendment). Amy Agbayani told us there that she will run for National Committeewoman for the Democratic Party. That post is currently held by Linda Rosehill, who was appointed to the post. The election occurs at the May 24-26 State Democratic Convention. If Amy wins, she'll serve with former governor George Ariyoshi (Gov. Ariyoshi lobbied the legislature this year to ban same gender marriage with a constitutional amendment). It appears that Terrance Tom will have primary opposition from Iris Katalani of Kaneohe. He may also be opposed by a Green Party candidate (in the general election). For awhile, Pamela Feguson was also going to run against Terrance Tom as a Democrat. With all three, Terrance, Iris and Pamela in the Democratic primary (end of September), the opposition to Terrance would have been split and he would probably survived. It now seems that Pamela may run for the seat vacated by Mary Jane McMurdo in Waikiki. This represents a great sacrfice by Pamela: her family had just bought a House in Kaneohe this year.
