From gwyn@annwfn.indstate.edu Wed Nov 23 14:19:11 1994 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Ten Percent Revue will come to Boulder for two shows in the Old Main Chapel theatre on the CU campus, Sunday, Dec. 11. Called "a wow of a revue" by Sandra Dillard Rosen of the Denver Post, this critically acclaimed musical revue of gay and lesbian life and sensibility is directed by Kirby Lewellen. It was nominated for "Best Ensemble Production of 1994" by the Denver Drama Critics Circle Awards. The event is sponsored by Boulder Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG Boulder) and the Chancellor's Standing Committee on Gay, Lesbian and Bisexual Issues. Proceeds will benefit the Gay, Lesbian and Bisexual Resource Center on the CU-Boulder campus. The four-star musical revue played to sold-out houses at the Denver Civic Theatre, where it closed on Sept. 18. Written by Tom Wilson Weinberg, the show takes inventive jabs at everything from off-the-wall personal ads to "Family Values," a song written especially for the Denver Premiere, to "Turkey Baster Baby," and the "Gay Name Game," a takeoff of TV game shows. The original cast--Mike Szillagyi, Anne Parks, Derek Nicoletto, Rochelle Gallup and Susan Draus--will perform, offering the same "energy, irony and outrage" that made the Denver run such a hit. "Written with wit, directed with love and performed with joy," Dillard Rosen wrote. "The Ten Percent Revue is for anybody who loves small musicals filled with warmth and intimacy. The subject matter is gay and lesbian life presented with shining humor and occasional irony," reviewer Jackie Campbell wrote in the Rocky Mountain News. The Boulder Camera's Dianne Zuckerman called the revue a "delight." "This is a show not only about being gay, but also about being human," she wrote. Performances of Ten Percent Revue will be at 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 for regular admission and $10 for students. Amounts over $7.50 are tax deductible. Tickets are available at the UMC box office on the Boulder campus, Word Is Out bookstore at 1731 15th St. and the Walnut Cafe (after 3 p.m.). Members of both sponsoring groups are also selling tickets. For reservations and information, call 492-8181. 30 Joanne Arnold CB 287 Campus 492-1456
