Date: Mon, 16 Aug 1999 22:03:14 -0400 From: Riki Anne Wilchins Subject: GenderPAC is looking for a few good men... ...and women, of course. We're embarking on a Fortune 500 Project to lobby and educate major corporations whose Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) policies already protect sexual orientation on how they can protect gender expression too. We need a few good transgender or gender-different women and men who meet the following 3 criteria: a) You work in one of the companies listed below. These are major companies whose EEO policies already include sexual orientation, and therefore we hope will be most receptive to adding gender as well. b) You're will to talk to your employer about their EEO policy. Lobbying and education are always more effective when it comes from inside, rather than outside. This means you may need to be willing to be "out" to at least your Human Resources Department. c) You're involved with your company's employee group. Optional. Backing from your company's employee group, especially their LGBT group, is very helpful in mobilizing internal support. If you can answer YES to at least a) and b), or can't but reasonably think your Fortune 500 company may be ready to protect gender expression in the workplace, please email us at Fortune500@Gpac.ORG PS. Want another way to support this important effort to gain gender protection in the workplace? Consider making a generous donation to GenderPAC or IFGE ear-marked for the Fortune 500 Project. Your money will be set aside for the Fortune 500 Project, and you'll get regular updates from us on how it's being spent and the progress to date. -- Riki Wilchins Executive Director Fortune 500 Companies Whose EEO Policies Protect Sexual Orientation ================================= 1.
