SMALL NUMBER

With regard to the front page article entitled "Catholic Church told to
confront
thorny issues" (Examiner Oct. 30) --
Who are these people who call themselves the Coalition of Concerned
Canadian Catholics (4Cs)? They have no credibility with most of the
Catholics I know. They constitute only one-thirtieth of one per cent of the
Catholic population of the Diocese of Peterborough or 20 people out of
approximately 60,000. A rather insignificant number.
The gay issue seemed to receive the most prominence in your article. On
that issue alone, John Martyn and Mary Baier seem to be contradicting each
other. However, they did agree on one thing, and that was bashing the Roman
Catholic Church. Well, that is not new either. Two thousand years ago, when
Pontius Pilate asked the people what he should do with Jesus Christ, many of
Jesus's followers screamed, "Crucify him! Crucify Him!" Are we seeing
history repeat itself?
I wonder if Mary Baier, the group coordinator, who is so concerned about
the gays, has ever read the objectives of the gay community, according to
Michael Swift, a gay revolutionary from Connecticut, in The Gay Community
News (Feb. 15, 1987): "We shall sodomize your sons, emblems of your feeble
masculinity, of your shallow dreams and vulgar lies. We shall seduce them in
your schools, in your dormitories, in your gymnasiums, in bathrooms, in your
houses of congress, wherever men are with men together. Your sons shall
become our minions and do our bidding. They shall be recast in our image.
They shall come to crave us and adore us."
The author of that article also outlined the following gay agenda:
abolishing heterosexual marriages, making sex between males _di rigueur_,
exiling those who oppose the gay agenda, abolishing the family unit, placing
children in the care of the homosexually wise, closing all churches which
condemn the gay and lesbian lifestyle, making homosexuality a condition of
true nobility.
Are those the people whom Mary Baier claims are being marginalized by the
Catholic Church?
