My friends, This really burns me up. The Salvation Army believes it would be more Christian to cut their services to the elderly and the homeless than offer benefits for gay partners. Offering gay partner benefits "conflicts with their organization's Christian beliefs in recognizing the importance of the family", so instead, they're simply going to cut their services to the elderly and the homeless in San Francisco. (Yet Catholic Charities had no problem). To think my Christian family has been giving donations to the Salavation Army for decades, thinking that their priority was to aid the poor. I suggest everyone forward this email to your friends, and next time you see a Salvation Army person ringing a bell at the supermarket, tell them what you think of them abandoning the poor and the elderly. To think how hate can blacken the soul -- cutting benefits to the elderly and the homeless in the name of Christ.
