Any responses to the list or list-owners will be returned to you. ] C.W.A. (Concerned Women of America) has sent a mass mailing urging their members to support Jesse Helms' bill S.25. This bill, introduced in January, would "prohibit the U.S. government and all of its agencies from either recruiting homosexuals for employment due to their sexual orientation, or condoning or celebrating homosexuality as a normal or legitimate lifestyle." This bill, if passed, would legalize discrimination against lesbians and gays in the federal workforce. C.W.A.'s goal is three-fold: 1. To end sensitivity training programs in the federal government 2. To end child-care services, provided in some government agencies, for queer couples 3. To stop the administration from having any liaisons to the queer community. After meeting with Senator Helms, C.W.A. began their campaign against the sensitivity training the government has mandated for all federal employees. Claiming that the government is "forcing government workers to attend three-hour sessions designed to coerce people into excepting the homosexual lifestyle as normal", Beverly LaHaye, founder of CWA, is urging members to write their representatives in the Senate in support of Senator Helms bill. We must contact our Senators and voice our opposition to this bill. Helms continues to attack the queer community and this is another attempt to take away our basic civil rights.
