            REPUBLICAN ALLEGES LAHEYE'S CWA IS INNOCENT

Monday, November 20th, Des Moines Register.  Tom Hoefling of the Iowa
Republican State Central Committee alleges that he's "never seen such trash
as Patricia Nell Warren's hysterical attack on Concerned Women for American
(Nov. 13th Opinion piece)."

The Broward Log Cabin Club of Florida and their friends associated with
Dignity Catholics, Integrity Episcopalians, etc. agree that mainstream
Christian organizations do not advocate "death or violence against
homosexuals."

In August 1995 LaHaye's Concerned Women for America sent out an urgent
national message for financial assistance alleging that "Homosexuals and
lesbians" are responsible for "A NATION WIDE ASSAULT ON THE BODY OF
CHRIST."
In October she alleges that "Innocent children are told to indulge in
promiscuity, and even 'try' homosexuality." In September she pleas for more
financial assistance skillfully charging that "Innocent 5 to 6 year-old
children are being told homosexuality is normal--being told the intricate
facts of sexual intercourse--introduced to masturbation--even being taught
the God-ordained commitment of marriage is unimportant!" Is this really
main-stream American education, the beliefs and/or actions of law-abiding
gay women and men or is it nothing more than subliminal messaging at the
expense an escapegoat minority?

Unfortunately what Tom Hoefling may misunderstand is that these allegations
are directly and indirectly responsible for loving, caring, honest and
credible gay women and men being forced out of their churches, their
neighborhood homes because of the utilized skewed statistics of Dr.Paul
Cameron, treated as criminals and denied their right to serve in the
military because -for example- the Rand Report was deceptively hidden from
the eyes of America before the codification of "Don't Ask-Don't-Tell,"
denied jobs as well as political opportunity because of their sexual
orientation, etc.

What is needed here is not more of the skewed inciteful fundraising
rhetoric we so frequently experience but honest, credibly and ethically
professional dialogue at the "American Table of Decision." Let's live more
of the "Golden Rule" not just listen to it roll of the lips of some
insincere public figures comfortably sitting on either side of the blinding
fence of intolerance.
