Date: Thu, 2 Feb 1995 09:30:28 -0500 From: Virginians For Justice Subject: HB1695 Still Alive VJ Legislative Action Alert: February 2, 1995 Subject: HB1695 STILL ALIVE, CALLS NEEDED House Bill 1695, a revision to Virginia code that would decriminalize private, non-commercial sexual behavior between consenting adults, has NOT YET cleared subcommittee, but the vote must take place this weekend. The House of Delegates must complete all action on its own bills by Tuesday, Feb. 7, so if HB1695 is to move forward, it must clear subcommittee, committee and the entire House by the Feb. 7 deadline. The House Courts of Justice committee's Criminal Law subcommittee is likely to vote on HB1695 on Friday, Feb. 3 or Sunday, Feb. 5. If that vote is successful, the full committee must vote before Tuesday. Virginians for Justice, the ACLU and several concerned citizens testified in support of HB1695 in the subcommittee on Sunday, Jan. 29, but the vote was delayed. ACTION: CALL IMMEDIATELY!
