The 'khush' mailing list

PURPOSE:

     'khush' is a mailing list for gay, lesbian, bisexual South Asians  and
     their  friends.   We  define  South Asian as people from or descending
     from countries such as Bangladesh,  Bhutan,  India,  Maldives,  Nepal,
     Pakistan,  Sri-Lanka.   The  purpose  of this list is to discuss South
     Asian gay culture/experiences/issues, as well as  form  a  social  and
     support  network.   Currently  the list is not moderated and anybody can
     join or leave the list at any time.

CONFIDENTIALITY:

     The list is completely confidential, that is  your  name/address  will
     NOT be visible to anybody else on the list unless you send mail to the
     list.   The  only  persons  who  will  have  access  to  it  are   the
     administrators  of the list (the founder and the systems administrator
     of the machine used to maintain the list).  But see disclaimer below.

AUTOMATICALLY JOINING/LEAVING THE LIST:

     You  can  join   the   list   AUTOMATICALLY   by   sending   mail   to
     khush-request@lists.mindspring.com.   The  subject  line will be ignored.
     The first line in your mail MUST be of the form:

                  subscribe [optional e-mail address]

     You  may  leave  the  list  by  sending  a  mail  to the same address,
     khush-request@lists.mindspring.com.  Again the subject line  is  ignored,
     and the first line in your mail MUST be of the form:

                  unsubscribe [optional e-mail address]

     If  you  have trouble joining or leaving this way, please send mail to
     khush-help@lists.mindspring.com and you will  be  subscribed/unsubscribed
     manually.


SENDING MAIL TO THE LIST:

     You    can    send    mail    to   the   list   by   sending   it   to
     khush@lists.mindspring.com.  This WILL cause your address to  be  visible
     to everyone on the list.  If you wish to contribute anonymously to the
     list,    you    can    send    mail    to     the     moderator     at
     khush-help@lists.mindspring.com  with  a  request  to  forward  the  mail
     anonymously.


EXTRACTING LIST ARCHIVES:

     Mail sent to the list is archived on a monthly basis to an ASCII file,
     which can be extracted automatically by sending mail to 
     khush-request@lists.mindspring.com.  The subject line is ignored,
     and the first line in your mail MUST be of the form:

                 get khush.YYMM

     Where YY is the year and MM is the month of the desired archive.  For
     example, if you want to extract all the mail sent to the list in the
     month of April, 1995 then the first line in your mail MUST be of the
     form:

                 get khush.9504

     If you would like to list available archives for automatic extraction, 
     send mail to khush-request@lists.mindspring.com.  The subject line is
     ignored, and the first line in your mail MUST be of the form:

                 index

     If you would like to extract archives other than the ones listed
     by the 'index' command, please send mail to 
     khush-help@lists.mindspring.com.


HELP/QUESTIONS:

     Please send any questions about the list or any  other  administrative
     stuff to khush-help@lists.mindspring.com


ADMINISTRATORS' RIGHTS:

     The  administrators  reserve the right to remove anybody from the list
     at any time, such as if the contents are  obnoxious/insulting  to  any
     particular person/group.


DISCLAIMER:

     There  are  no  warranties, expressed or implied, by joining the list,
     and you do so at your own risk.  In particular, while it is not likely
     to  happen,  the  administrators are not responsible for an accidental
     violation of a member's confidentiality.
