Kenny Hill rejoins the Task Force as Director of Foundation and Corporate Funding. Jeffrey Kost assumes the duties of Deputy Director of Development. "In response to the increased funding opportunities from individuals and foundations, Jeffrey and Kenny are providing talent and experience to meet the demands of our growing organization," said Kerry Lobel, executive director of NGLTF. The Board of Directors of the Task Force approved a budget of $3.6 million at its January1999 meeting, representing 22 percent growth over 1998. Kenny Hill first worked at the Task Force from 1992 to 1996 as Special Events producer, then Director of Major Gifts, and twice as Acting Director of Development. After retiring in 1996 on disability, he stayed active as a Task Force fundraising consultant. For the past three years, he was a pro bono consultant with the Gill Foundation where he helped establish their national fundraising training program and participated in producing the first two annual OutGiving conferences for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender philanthropists. "This is a terrifically exciting time to be back at the Task Force," Hill said. "There is an abundance of incredibly strong programming which presents incredible opportunities to reach out to funders for support," Hill said. Jeffrey Kost comes to the Task Force after more than seven years as Director of Development and Communications with the largest AIDS service organization in upstate New York. He will plan and execute the major gifts program for the Task Force, managing all aspects of major gifts planning, cultivation and solicitation. Jeffrey's past work also includes media coordinator for a display of the Names Project AIDS Memorial Quilt; press secretary for Tim O. Mains, an openly gay candidate for Rochester, NY City Council. "I am so happy to be joining the Task Force staff at this time," said Kost. "I have long admired its work on GLBT issues. Now I can maximize the generosity that has helped to build NGLTF and further its work toward equality." -30- _____________________________________________________________________ Founded in 1973, the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force works to eliminate prejudice, violence and injustice against gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered people at the local, state and national level.
