NGLTF PUTS THE "FUN" BACK IN "FUNDRAISING" WITH GAMEWORKS EVENTS IN COLUMBUS, MIAMI AND SEATTLE Oct. 4, 1999 GameWorks, the premier entertainment destination, will open its doors to the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community with three exciting fundraising events on Oct. 12 in Columbus, Miami and Seattle. Skip Paul, Chairman of Sega Gameworks, is chairman of the "Come Out and Play" fundraisers, which are now in their second year. The fundraisers will benefit the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force and a number of local groups. In Columbus and Miami, part of the proceeds will go to Stonewall Columbus and SAVEDade. In Seattle, a portion of the proceeds will go to the Pride Foundation Scholarship Fund, the GSBA Scholarship Program, Lambert House, the Lesbian Resource Center, the Seattle chapter of P-FLAG and Seattle's Safe Schools Coalition. "GameWorks' partnership with NGLTF puts the fun in fundraising," said NGLTF Executive Director Kerry Lobel. "These events will give both NGLTF and a number of local groups the resources we all need to train, organize and fight for GLBT equality. 'Come Out and Play' brings people of all ages together to have fun and support the important work that is being carried out in local communities and in all 50 states on behalf of GLBT people." The Columbus event will take place from 7-10 p.m. at 165 Easton Town Center. The Miami event will be held 7-10 p.m. at 5701 Sunset Drive in South Miami. And the Seattle GameWorks will be from 6-9 p.m. at 1511 7th Avenue. The three events are being choreographed so that during the hour of 9-10 EST, participants from all three cities may "play" against each other. Video feeds from the three cities will be available. GameWorks, created with the help of Universal Studios and Sega, is the premier entertainment destination where people can play, eat, drink and gather together for a unique social experience around games.
