Issue areas include civil rights, hate violence, families, marriage, youth, sodomy law repeal, state legislation, voting trends and other issues of concern to the GLBT community. This full-time position is located in NGLTF's Washington, DC office. RESPONSIBILITIES: o Write political position papers, fact sheets, talking points, maps and other publications and materials o Conduct research on policy issues o Work with contractors to research and write new books and publications o Work with staff to write, update, and edit materials o Inventory and organize new and existing publications o Coordinate and monitor publications distribution and order fulfillment o Prepare programmatic materials for web site o Work with program staff to copy, print, and otherwise produce and distribute materials o Participate as member of Program Team o Perform other duties as assigned by Political Director and Deputy Political Director QUALIFICATIONS: o Outstanding writing and editing skills o Demonstrated knowledge of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender issues o Demonstrated ability to perform writing and research on GLBT political issues o Ability to work independently on a timeline o Computer and internet literacy o Demonstrated commitment to working in a local, state or national non-profit organization o Commitment to working in a multi-cultural environment where diversity based on race, age, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, and physical ability is an important institutional value.
