Equality Begins at Home is a national campaign to strengthen and unite the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender communities and promote equality at the state level. This first ever nationally coordinated series of actions in every state and territory for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender equality will take place during the week of March 21 ­ 27. Equality Begins at Home will shine the national spotlight on the lives of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people and the challenges they face. Laws and policies most directly affecting the lives of GLBT people are made at the state level. Adoption, foster care, civil rights, hate crimes, schools, health care, marriage - all are issues of enormous import, and all are being debated in every state legislature. Equality Begins at Home is a new phase in the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender movement. It marks a strategic shift in attention and emphasis to state and local organizing. Creating Change is the largest annual political convention of the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender movement.
