It strengthens our defenses against the onslaught of pro-discrimination referenda that have been spawned from Amendment 2 in Colorado," said Radecic. "Anti-gay measures passed in Oregon, Ohio, and Maine are direct descendants of Colorado's pro-discrimination measure, and more are on the way as 8 to 13 states face similar measures in 1994. "The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force supports the call to end the boycott of Colorado. The boycott has been a tremendously successful civil rights organizing tool and has sent a message around the country that it doesn't pay to discriminate. It is now time for all of us to unite around healing Colorado of the divisive cancer inflicted by the Far Right and work to prevent its spread. "Our movement can declare victory today. But that victory is clouded by the sobering reality that the Far Right is building its political power for a broader agenda on the backs of gay men, lesbians, and bisexuals. Colorado's Amendment 2 was only the beginning of a long-range strategy by the Far Right." -- 30 --
