Specific Duties --------------- * Organize and manage a Los Angeles-based campus office for NGLTF Policy Institute. Maintain normal business hours. * Work with local and regional campus lesbian/gay/bisexual groups to develop and implement organizing actvity that promotes curricular and co-curricular program and policy reform aimed at improving the educational experiences and quality of campus life for l/g/b students. * Produce publications to assist campus organizing and networking. Facilitate communication among campus l/g/b groups, both regionally and nationally, through computerized networks, written materials and regularly updated contact lists. * Organize and participate in coalitions which further project goals and objectives. * Help organize and participate in NGLTF's annual Creating Change Conference. * Work with other NGLTF staff to develop linkages between the Campus Project and other NGLTF projects and initiatives. * Participate in NGLTF staff meetings. * Represent NGLTF at publicevents and conferences. * Serve as spokesperson to the media on campus issues. * Other duties as required by the Deputy Director of Public Policy. Required Qualifications ----------------------- * Undergraduate degree. * Knowledge/experience in campus organizing and higher education issues. * Knowledge/experience in lesbian/gay/bisexual organizing. * Excellent communication skills, ability to work independently. * Multi-cultural working experience a must. * Ability to foster and develop working relationships and contacts, and to interact effectively in coalitions. * Travel required.
