Sunday, December 17, 1995, (Ex-Episcopal Bishop Faces Heresy Trial for
Supporting Gays).

"Practicing" staff writer Shirley Salemy of the Tribune certainly coined a
new one for those coming to grips with the up to date lingo in the battle
for equality of rights and how gay women and men fit into the distorted
"Focus on The Family" tapestry.

Welcome "practicing homosexual" or should we say thank you Jimmy Dobson and
Paul Cameron?  It's nice to know that homosexuals and heterosexuals now fit
into a professional category as do "practicing lawyers, practicing medical
doctors, practicing columnists, etc."

Now, come on, do we mean "sexually active homosexuals and/or heterosexuals"
in monogamous relationships, as street walkers, call guys/girls, etc.?
Aren't puzzles appearing on a different page of the Tribune, one closer to
the comic section? After all, what is an EX-Bishop, EX-Doctor, EX-Pope, and
EX-Nun?  Is that something like a former "practicing" professional in
another life?
