It is to be sent to Mr. Keith Geiger of The National Education Association. Please let us know if you send a letter fax or call - we'd like to know if our effort is working. November 15, 1995 Mr. Keith Geiger The National Education Association 1201 16th Street, NW Washington, DC 20036 Dear Mr. Geiger: Please accept my profound appreciation of the resolution, which dealt with respect for lesbians, gays and bisexuals, that was adopted by the National Education Association at your annual Representative Assembly last July. Thank you for speaking out for tolerance and understanding in this nation. I understand that you and the NEA have been under intense pressure from conservatives who object to the resolution. In my view the content and intensity of their complaints provide a clear example of the need for the plans and the programs recommended by your resolution. Please do not bow to the pressure of bigots. Please stand fast in your determination to work for the end of sexual orientation stereotyping and for a new beginning in the recognition of the contributions of lesbians, gays and bisexuals throughout history. Your efforts, no doubt, will contribute to the creation of a healthier, happier and more understanding society for all people. Again, please accept my appreciation for the courageous step that you and the NEA took this summer. Yours truly,
