Committee The U.S. House of Representatives Washington, DC 20515 Dear Representative I am writing to ask your leadership in committee on an affirmative mark-up vote on H.R. 4636 the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) of 1994. This act, rightly, bans employment discrimination based on sexual orientation. This is not special protection; it is simple justice for all working people regardless of sexual orientation. Practices of unfair hiring, firing and harassment on the job are often used by employers as economic weapons against lesbian, gay and bisexual people. Denial of livelihood should not be held over the head of any qualified job candidate or employee because of the person's sexual orientation. A February, 1994 Newsweek poll affirmed that 74% of Americans favor equal protection in employment practices, regardless of sexual orientation. Your committee's support of H.R. 4636 will send a message that there shall be no more "allowable" workplace discrimination against any group of Americans. I rely on your leadership and good faith to see that equal opportunity and equal protection of the law is a reality for all Americans. Please support and rally your committee colleagues for an affirmative vote on H.R. 4636. Sincerely,
