Bravo! I rarely watch television, but I make a special effort to watch your show, and last night was more than worth the trouble. I was impressed with your directness. Roslyn and Cicely were involved emotionally, romantically, and spiritually, and they made an extraordinary effort to create a life for themselves where this would not be held against them. And you, CBS and the show's writers, actors and producers, did not beat around the euphemisms and pretend that Roslyn and Cicely might be something other than in love with one another. No, your show had a sense of humour, and a sense of honesty. Two things that go together well, I might add. I write to applaud your lovely and even somewhat realistic portrayal of two women and a town, together fighting prejudice, narrow-mindedness and oppression. I realize that there are risks in putting frank portrayals of lesbians on television, and therefore I also applaud your bravery, and the courage of your commercial sponsors as well. This one show does a great deal to enhance your reputations as socially progressive and responsible corparate citizens. Thank you again, Victoria I. Streiff copies to: CBS audience services, NY, NY; and MCA Pipeline Productions, Santa Monica, CA. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ -- love and spice, --vyxter
