GLAAD LAUNCHES WEEKLY INFORMATION FAX


NEW YORK, November 27, 1995 -- The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against
Defamation (GLAAD) is gearing up for the latest effort in the battle
against homophobia and discrimination based on sexual orientation or
identity.  On Friday, December 8th, GLAAD will begin a weekly fax to media
outlets giving a heads-up on issues and events of importance to the gay,
lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered community across the country.

"GLAADlines will be an invaluable tool for all media professionals.  It
will give them a sense of what's going on in the gay community.  Likewise,
it will serve gay & lesbian organizations across the nation who want to
pitch story ideas or events to the national media," said Chiqui Cartagena,
interim News Media Director.

GLAADlines will be faxed out every Friday.  Community organizations,
activists, and reporters from around the country will be sending
information of current stories and events to the GLAAD New York office each
week.  A concise synopsis of the event or story, plus the relevant details
such as time, place, and a person to contact will be edited together and
faxed out the following day.  The premiere fax of GLAADlines will go out
Friday,
December 8th.
