Both companies recently extended domestic partner benefits to same gender partners of their respective companies. Conversely, the Extreme Far Right has written nasty letters threatening boycotts in newspaper editorials. The misinformation and hatred can be countered with positive letters written to the Chairmen of both companies. "Equality is not a special right" explained Tamra King, Entertainment Media Director for GLAAD. Benefits are a significant percentage of compensation for an employee. Spousal benefits are not legally required by law, but are meant to be competitive. "Gays and lesbians in committed relationships now have some right to provide health insurance for their domestic partners when their employer offers domestic partner benefits," King said.
