Box 1281, Ft.Lauderdale, FL 33302 (954) LCR-1995 EVELYN KOTCH -FEMINIST, GOP EGALITARIAN, AND FRIEND OF THE VETS January 14th, Philadelphia. The members and friends of Florida's Gold Coast Log Cabin Republicans were saddened to learn of the passing of a wonderful and dedicated friend, Evelyn Kotch former National Vice President of the Log Cabin Federation and a resident of Pennsylvania. Evelyn was a caring person and a true grass-roots activist. She joined many of us during a community-wide celebration honoring the unsung "movers and shakers" of South Florida who faced the struggle for equality in the Seventies and early Eighties. She was an ardent advocate against the "military witch hunts" and the "don't ask-tell" ban which targeted 'gays in the military." In her address, during the "Remembering When" South Florida gala held at Chardees Wilton Manors Restaurant, she told the over-flow audience that, "You'll be easily forgotten as things are taken for granted but no one will ever erase the memories and the hard- earned friendships we embrace together in this atmosphere of camaraderie. Tonight's show of former and current unity, diversity and respect is how things were and are accomplished. This is the precise way we ultimately achieve our lasting successes." According to Andy Eddy, Chair of the event "Evelyn stood side by side with guests including Commissioner Lori Parrish, Commissioner Cary Keno, Elaine Noble, Abner Mason, Rev. John Gill, Rev. Grant Ford, Fr. Bill Collins, Rev. Gus Kein, Tony Lavoti, Dennis Delia, Karl Clark, Joe Bell, Jack Campbell, Alan Curtis, Eileen Oberholtz, Joe McCallion, Jesse Monteagudo, Dr. Melany Moorhead, Alan Terl, and so many others." Our gratitude to Evelyn for her friendship, commitment and support and our condolences to Inez, her life-long companion, their families and friends. ------------------------------------------------------------- End of Message 1-A -------------------------------------------------------------
