>> P.O.V.: ONE NATION UNDER GOD (CC).  TV Guide has
written:  "P.O.V. takes a sobering look at attempts to
'cure' homosexuality in the alternately disturbing and
enlightening ONE NATION UNDER GOD, a *** 1993
documentary."  Critic Jeff Jarvis added:  "In a
documentary about groups that try to turn gay people
straight, we meet two men who ran one of these born-again
organizations - until they fell in love with each other.
Ah, irony.  A plain news story might have filled in more
blanks.  But the film is quite effective at refuting these
alleged reformers.  My score:  7."   PBS airings include:

>> CASE CLOSED (CC).  Airs Sat. 6/25/94, 7:00 pm, USA
cable.  TV Guide says that the reports will include "an
investigation into a treatment for AIDS."

>> LAST CALL AT MAUD'S.  Airs in NYC on Sat. 6/25/94, 8:40
pm, WNET ch. 13.  TV Guide describes this as "Footage of
the final days of San Francisco's noted lesbian bar, which
closed its doors in 1989.  Included: a history of Maud's."

>> SISTERS (CC).  Airs Sat. 6/25/94, 10:00 pm, NBC.  The
plot lines include one in which "A tv producer (Nora Dunn)
offers Alex a hot opportunity." (TV Guide)  -  I'm not
100% certain, but I think that the producer is the
character who turned out to be a lesbian.

>> THE LOST LANGUAGE OF CRANES (CC).  Airs in NYC and
possible also on other PBS stations on Sat. 6/25/94, 10:00
pm, on WNET ch. 13.  Multiple gay plot lines/characters.

>> OUT THERE.  Airs Sun. 6/26/94, 11:00 pm, Comedy
Central.  Gay and lesbian stand-up comedy.  I'm not sure
if this is the 10/93 show that was taped in San Francisco
on National Coming Out Day, or an "Out There II" that is
reportedly in the works.  The original show featured
performers Bob Smith, Suzanne Westenhoefer, Marga Gomez,
Steven Moore, and others.

>> POISON IVY.  Airs Mon. 6/27/94, 8:00 pm, HBO.  Drew
Barrymore and Sarah Gilbert share a kiss in this drama
(but the readers of this column who've seen it report that
it's a lousy film).

>> BASIC INSTINCT (CC).  Airs Mon-Tues. 6/27-28/94, 1:10
am, The Movie Channel cable.  Homophobic murder movie
which features several lesbian and bisexual women - all of
whom are murderers or mass murderers.

>> GO TOWARD THE LIGHT.  Airs Tues. 6/28/94, 11:45 am,
Encore cable.  A couple prepare their AIDS-infected child
for his death.  Richard Thomas and Linda Hamilton star as
the parents; Ned Beatty and Piper Laurie co-star.

>> BROADCAST TAPES OF DR. PETER (CC).  Airs Wed. 6/29/94,
11:00 am, HBO.  A compilation of tv news reports made by a
Canadian physician who had AIDS, and who died of the
disease.

>> THE LIVING END.  Airs Wed. 6/29/94, 10:00 pm, Cinemax.
TV Guide describes this as:  "(1992) NR: Adult themes.
After they're diagnosed HIV-positive, two lovers (Craig
Gilmore, Mike Dytri) take to the open road on a nothing-
left-to-lose odyssey".  They give it two stars.

>> DAVID LETTERMAN (CC).  Airs Thurs. 6/30/94, 11:35 pm,
CBS.  Guests include the Indigo Girls.

>> AFTER GOODBYE: AN AIDS STORY (CC).  Airs Thurs-Fri.
6/30/94-7/1/94, midnight, on New York WNET ch. 13.  TV
Guide has described this as:  "A reflection on the toll
AIDS has taken on Dallas's Turtle Creek Chorale, a men's
vocal group ravaged by the disease. Included: comments by
therapist Elisabeth Kubler-Ross."

>> BIOGRAPHY: ELIZABETH TAYLOR.  Airs Fri. 7/1/94, 8:00
pm, Arts & Entertainment.  Unknown if this show will
address Ms. Taylor's phenomenal work to fight AIDS, or her
very strong and public efforts to fight homophobia in
Hollywood and elsewhere.

>> Also, look for media coverage of the Stonewall 25th
anniversary Gay/Lesbian/Bi/Transgender Pride Parade in New
York City on Sun. 6/26/94.  CNN and the network news shows
will probably cover it somehow.
