The anthology is being edited by Bruce Morrow and Charles Rowell, editor of CALLALOO (U.Va., Johns Hopkins Press) and will be published by AVON BOOKS in 1996. Contributors will be paid a fee yet to be decided. The deadline for submissions is April 15, 1995. Contributors so far include: Samuel R. Delany (who will also write the introduction), Randall Kenan, Steven Corbin, K. Anthony Appiah, Ano Cinque Hicks, Reginald Shepherd, James Earl Hardy, Brian Keith Jackson, Thomas Glave, Guy Mark Foster, Don Belton, G. Winston James, John Keene, and Melvin Dixon (through his estate). The editors are looking for work by writers from the U.S. (especially the West Coast, the Midwest, and the South), Caribbean, Mexico, Canada, South America, England, France, Germany, the Netherlands, and Africa, including South Africa.
