LA-MOTSS is the online social and political forum for gay, lesbian,
and bisexual issues in the Los Angeles and Southern California area.
Items on this forum must be related to gays/lesbians/bisexuals in
Southern California. It should not include general gay/lesbian news
nor advertisements or announcements for non-gay events or services.
LA-MOTSS is actually divided into two separate lists, which are
described below. If you have sent a subscription request, the very
top of this message indicates to which list you have been subscribed.

LA-MOTSS is is a "general discussion" list, which is sort of like an
ongoing conversation about issues of interest to the gay/lesbian/bi
community in Southern California. This is the appropriate place to
post news stories, want ads, questions, or just general discussion.
In addition, LA-MOTSS receives ALL postings that are sent to
LA-MOTSS-ANNOUNCE (described below). To contribute, send a mail

2. LA-MOTSS-ANNOUNCE

LA-MOTSS-ANNOUNCE is a moderated list for announcements only. If your
message doesn't conform to the guidelines described below you will
receive a rejection notice and your message will not be posted. If
you have determined that your message is appropriate for the
announcements list, you may send it to:

DIGEST VERSIONS OF LA-MOTSS

A digest is a group of mail messages that have been bundled together
and sent to you, the recipient, as a single message. Many people find
it preferable to subscribe to a digest, because they receive one big
message every once in a while instead of getting constantly bombarded
with small messages.
Both LA-MOTSS and LA-MOTSS-ANNOUNCE are available as digests. Note
that the digest lists have the EXACT SAME CONTENT as the non-digest
lists, but package it differently. Currently, the digest versions of
these lists are sent out 3 times per week.
LA-MOTSS-DIGEST is a digest version of LA-MOTSS. If you are currently
on the la-motss mailing list and want to switch to the digested
version, send a message to majordomo@langevin.usc.edu with the
following text:

LA-MOTSS-ANNOUNCE-DIGEST is a digest version of the LA-MOTSS-ANNOUNCE
list. If you're worried about getting too much mail, this is what you

POSTING GUIDELINES FOR LA-MOTSS-ANNOUNCE

a. The announcement list is used ONLY to announce upcoming social,
political, religious, educational, etc. events that are of direct
interest to the gay/lesbian/bisexual (glb*) community in
Southern California.
b. Action Alerts (solicitations for participation in letter-writing
campaigns) may be posted to the announcement list provided they
are SPECIFICALLY RELATED to a gay/lesbian/bisexual issue in
California or Southern California.
c. The announcement list should not be used for discussions. Don't
reply to a message and send a copy to the announcements list.
d. The announcement list should not be used as a want ad service.
Don't post "roommate needed" or "for sale" items on the list.
e. The announcement list should not be used to post press releases
or stories from newspapers or periodicals UNLESS they are
specifically announcing an upcoming event that is motss related.
f. The announcement list should not be used to post any non-glb*
information.

MAILING LIST ADMINISTRIVIA

You really only want to subscribe to one of the above lists, although
nothing will stop you from subscribing to more than one of them. If
you want to switch from one list to the other, you need to unsubscribe
from the list you're currently on and subscribe to the list you want
to be on. Otherwise, you'll almost certainly end up getting duplicate
copies of mail that you don't want. To change your subscription

PRIVACY AND AUTOMATIC REMOVAL FROM LA-MOTSS

The list of participants on the LA-MOTSS lists is not normally
available to anyone except for the administrators at langevin.usc.edu,
unless we have difficulty delivering mail to you.
If we cannot deliver mail to you, you will immediately be removed from
all la-motss mailing list(s) and added to a special list for people with
bad mailing addresses. Majordomo will attempt to contact you to let you
know what it's done, and if your site comes back online, you're welcome
to resubscribe at that time.
During the time that you are on the list of people with bad mailing
addresses, your email address may be available to other people who
are also having difficulty with email.
