The local Soulforce activists were among the 191 people participating in, and subsequently arrested, at the recent Civil Disobedience at the United Methodist General Conference in Cleveland, Ohio earlier this month. Other arrestees included clergy from various faith communities, Civil Rights leaders from the 50's & 60's, as well as the grandson of Mohandas Gandhi. The pair will share with GLSEN members and attendees, their experiences and perspectives from Cleveland as well as their participation in last year's historic Anti-Violence Summit with Rev. Jerry Falwell and his constituents. They will also discuss the historically proven principles of "relentless" Non-violent negotiation and Direct Action (as applied by Gandhi and King) as it relates to justice and equality for sexual minorities and GLBT youth in schools.
