NEW RESOURCE FOR THOSE WORKING TO END HOMOPHOBIA IN SCHOOLS NOW AVALIABLE

The Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Teachers Network launched phase one of its
worldwide web site this week.  Found at

this web site offers resources to educators, students, parents, and community
activists on how to create change in their schools.  "We call it the
'toolbox' becuase that's how we see it -- as tools for change," said Kevin
Jennings, GLSTN's Executive Director.

Jennings added that current materials focus on GLSTN progamming such as
Lesbian, Gay, and Bisexual History Month, and consist of numerous text
articles on issues as diverse as gay history materials and advice on how to
come out in class, as well as general materials on GLSTN as an organization.
 Phase 2 will launch resources produced by other organizations, and phase 3
will add graphics, including video and audio resources.  "We see this as an
on-line library of sorts, which people can visit periodically to see what new
books we've added, as it were," Jennings said.  "It's not fabulous in terms
of graphics -- but we thought content was more important than 'look,' so we
put our efforts in that direction."
