Date: Tue, 22 Nov 1994 14:29:59 -0500 (EST) PRESS RELEASE The New England Network is an organization which was formed in the spring of '94 to serve as a link for queer student groups and services at colleges and universities in the New England area. One of the goals of NE-Net is to allow institutions which have large and/or well-established queer organizations to share resources and information with those groups which are either embryonic or nonexistent. This goal is to be met by setting-up an archive to which each member may have access both to submit and to borrow information. This archive should be available both in the real world and the world of the information superhighway. Further, NE-Net is in the process of planning a major conference which will address various issues of relevence to the queer student community. This conference is slated to take place on the campus of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst on the weekend of February 17, so save that date now! Topics and events will be both social and serious - something for everyone. NE-Net was formed to be a networking tool rather than an umbrella organization and is currently working on devloping other networking ideas to improve contact and communication between colleges and students in the New England area and its various regions. Membership in NE-Net allows institutions either to share ideas with other New England academic queer groups or to benefit from the experiences of other student-queers. NE-Net was formed to be a body where all lesbian, bisexual, gay, and transgendered college students can work together to create the best solutions for our problems and the best ways to meet our needs and achieve our goals. If you would like more information about NE-Net in central or western Mass. and the upcoming spring conference, please contact Terry Kates at (413) 256-4254 (email: kates@math.umass.edu) or Jennifer Margulies at (413) 585-7621 (email: jmargulies@smith.smith.edu).
