Video Satellite Broadcast December 12, 1996 3:00 pm to 4:30pm EST Course Content: Through a cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Massachusetts Corporation for Educational Telecommunications (MCET) , this program is designed to prevent HIV/AIDS among American youth. The program is hosted by experts from the Multicultural AIDS Coalition, Harvard AIDS Institute, Massachusetts Department of Education, Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Cambridge Cares about AIDS, and the AIDS Action Committee. This program offers up-to-date resources on prevention strategies and provides participants the opportunity to speak to presenters during the broadcast. Participants will receive an overview of the HIV/AIDS epidemic, strategies to deal with barriers to HIV/AIDS education, information about prevention techniques, issues in HIV/AIDS faced by minority populations, and guidance in targeting prevention strategies. Discussion will focus on prevention strategies that are appropriate to the specific needs of youth in and out of school representing diverse cultural backgrounds and sexual orientation. The session will examine issues that affect different groups of youths and demonstrate how these issues can influence the development of prevention strategies.
